The Moon landing took place on July 20, 1969, not July 21. On that historic day, NASA’s Apollo 11 mission successfully landed the lunar module, “Eagle,” on the Moon’s surface. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the Moon, while Michael Collins orbited above in the command module. Neil Armstrong famously said, “That’s one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind,” as he descended the ladder and set foot on the lunar surface.
